News for Retiree Medical Program Members
The Open Enrollment Period Has Now Closed.
The annual Open Enrollment period is a once-a-year opportunity for retirees to evaluate their needs and enroll for benefits. Changes made during Open Enrollment take effect on Jan. 1.
Open Enrollment for 2024 benefits elections began on Monday, Oct. 23, and ends on Friday, Nov. 3. More information about benefit offerings can be found here: Retiree Medical Program
COVID-19 Health Care Coverage
With the expiration of the federal public health emergency on May 11, 2023, coverage for certain services have returned to pre-COVID levels. For retirees enrolled in DePaul’s MAPD, PPO, and HMO plans, the following coverage applies to health care services related to COVID-19.

COVID-19 Diagnostic Tests are covered at the regular benefit per your medical plan. When you receive a COVID-19 test at a doctor's office or medical facility, the copay/coinsurance for that test will apply, similar to if you went to your doctor’s office for a strep throat test, as an example.

COVID-19 Testing-related Visits are covered at the regular benefit per your medical plan. This is the cost for the office visit that is charged in addition to the COVID-19 test. The copay/coinsurance for the provider will apply.

Over-the-Counter COVID-19 Diagnostic Tests are no longer covered. However, you can use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for them.

FDA-Authorized COVID-19 Vaccines are covered at the preventive benefit level, similar to the influenza vaccine.

HealthEquity/WageWorks is the direct bill administrator for DePaul's Retiree PPO and Retiree HMO plans. Monthly payments can be made to HealthEquity/WageWorks by:

Note: For any payments received by the Benefits Department at DePaul University, we will coordinate submission with HealthEquity/WageWorks, so that your HealthEquity/WageWorks records reflect that payment.

Premium Payments for Medicare Advantage Plan
Retirees in the Medicare Advantage Plan make monthly premium payments directly to BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS). Medicare Advantage Plan bills are sent out each month on the 15th.
