The Office of Human Resources' goal is to resolve work-related issues expeditiously and professionally. Employees with work related issues may contact an Employee Relations & EEO representative directly to attempt to resolve their work related concerns at an informal level. The Employee Relations & EEO representative can act as a facilitator for meetings and discussions, and provide clarification and interpretation for written policies and procedures. The Employee Relations & EEO representative will offer the best advice and approach to DePaul employees in an effort to satisfactorily address their issues or concerns.
For specific details outlining the process recommended to resolve informal issues, refer to the Human Resources policy section at the
University Policies and Procedures website.
Formal Workplace Issues
A formal workplace issue is an allegation by an employee that there has been a specific violation, misinterpretation or misapplication of one or more of the university's policies. The actual policies are not subject to dispute under this process.
This policy does not apply to the following: Policy decisions, or decisions made by the President (or his designee), which affect a group of employees equally (e.g., norms for salary increases, benefit schedules, etc.). Decisions made on the recommendation of a duly appointed board or committee which affect a group of employees equally.
DePaul employees and their managers are expected to attempt to resolve all work related issues informally. Issues that are not resolved at this level should proceed to the next higher level of administration and/or Human Resources. If the informal methods utilized do not result in a satisfactory resolution of the problem, or if the employee so chooses at the outset, he/she may choose to proceed to initiating formal issue resolution procedures.
For specific information on the
Employee Workplace Issues Resolution Policy, refer to the Human Resources policies at the University Policies and Procedures website.
