​Google G Suite - Frequently Asked Questions

All current DePaul faculty and staff are eligible.
G Suite accounts are created automatically. To access your DePaul G Suite tools, simply log in to Google with your Campus Connect credentials.
Yes. You can add additional accounts by clicking on your profile image in the top right corner of the page, then clicking 'Add account'. You can also click on your image icon to switch between accounts once logged in.

Yes. For instructions on how to configure your DePaul G Suite account on your mobile device, see G Suite Mobile Device Configuration.
As part of our configuration DePaul needs to use a mobile device manager to enforce the policies needed to make G Suite work with your device.  DePaul does not access or collect your personal data, however, DePaul does need certain device data in order to associate this device with your account. 
Android devices require the use of a work profile to seperate DePaul data from personal data.  Because of this a second copy of some apps are installed so that you can access your DePaul data.  The apps with the briefcase icon are part of your work (DePaul) profile.
DePaul's Google G Suite for Education account has unlimited storage.

You may store personal data or DePaul data.  For any questions regarding DePaul data that DePaul employees may store in Google, DePaul's  Access to and Responsible Use of Data Policy governs where and how DePaul data should be managed.  For an overview of types of data and where they should be stored, please refer to the chart on the Google G Suite page.  If you have any questions, contact security@depaul.edu.   

Yes, below are the limits for each type of file:
  • Documents: Up to 1.02 million characters. If you convert a text document to Google Docs format, it can be up to 50 MB.
  • Spreadsheets: Up to 5 million cells for spreadsheets that are created in or converted to Google Sheets.
  • Presentations: Up to 100 MB for presentations converted to Google Slides.
  • Google Sites (new): Up to 200,000 characters per page, 10,000 images per site, and up to 1,000 pages (max 10 million characters).
  • All other files: Up to 5 TB.
Yes.  Google Drive File Stream is available for download for both PC and Mac to sync files between your desktop and Google Drive.
Android devices require the use of a work profile to separate DePaul data from personal data.  Because of this, a second copy of some apps are installed so that you can access your DePaul data.  The apps with the briefcase icon identify those that are part of your work profile.
Components of the Gmail application are used in our overall email solution, though no Gmail mailboxes are created for you to access. Due to limitations by Google, we cannot hide or remove this icon from the AppLauncher. 
Components of the Vault application are used in our overall email solution. Access to this application is limited to administrators. Due to limitations by Google, we cannot hide or remove this icon from the AppLauncher.
To remove G Suite from an Android device

1.       Go to Settings

2.       Accounts

3.       Find your DePaul account and tap on it

4.       Select Remove account

5.       Select Remove account

To remove G Suite from an iOS device

1.     Tap Google Device Policy on your iOS device.

2.     Tap the menu 

3.     Tap Unregister.

4.     Tap Unregister to confirm that you want to remove all data and apps associated with your account from your device.

5.     Tap Unregister to unregister your account from your device.

6.     Tap the menu

7.     Select your username and tap Manage Accounts.

8.     Tap Manage.

9.     Tap Remove for the account you want to remove.

10.  Tap Remove to confirm.

11.  You can delete the Google Device Policy app in the same way you delete any app from your device. When you delete the app, the managed apps and restrictions set by your administrator stay on your device.

DePaul employees will lose access to their data once their employment ends.  Please take all steps to take care of your data before you leave.   Save any personal data to another location, or you will lose access to it once you leave.  You should also work with your manager or other peers as needed to transfer ownership of any DePaul related data by making someone else the co-owner of that data.  If you make someone else the co-owner of data in Drive, when you leave, they will take over ownership of it.
