In general, DePaul University offers students two types of study abroad options:
-
Term-long programs where you will go abroad for one quarter or longer.
-
Short-term programs of typically 1-3 weeks that travel over the breaks (December, spring break and summer) and are led by DePaul faculty.
Below is a step-by-step guide to learn more and find the program that is the best fit for you.
Step 1: Learn How Study Abroad Works at DePaul
Study Abroad 101 sessions will guide you through the basics of study abroad at DePaul and discuss topics such as selecting, applying and financing your program. These quick, 30-minute sessions are offered every day during the quarter via Zoom. If you cannot attend any of these days/times, send your availability to abroad@depaul.edu, and we will set up an individual session with you and a staff member.
Step 2: Research Program and Funding Options
After attending Study Abroad 101, identify your goals and research programs and options on the Study Abroad website. Search for DePaul-sponsored programs including short-term and term-long options.
RESEARCH FUNDING OPTIONS EARLY! Apply for scholarships at the same time that you are applying for a study abroad program especially before acceptance to a program. Many scholarship applications are due prior to study abroad program deadlines.
Visit the scholarships page to learn more about scholarship opportunities through the Study Abroad office, academic departments, partner institutions, and non-affiliated scholarships. If you have questions about your financial aid package and study abroad, contact any financial aid counselor or one of the following counselors:
