Students traveling in a group, should request that their group leader contact Study Abroad at abroad@depaul.edu to receive a link specific to your group.
All travel registration applications ask students to enter dates of travel, location(s) of travel, purpose of travel, and emergency contact information. It helps improve the safety of those traveling by allowing the University to quickly communicate with students in case of an emergency.
Travel Registration must be completed no less than 90 days prior to departure.
International Travel Health & Accident Insurance Requirement
If students are traveling abroad under the circumstances described above, they are required to purchase DePaul University's travel health and accident insurance plan provided by
Cultural Insurance Services International, CISI. Students will be enrolled in the CISI insurance plan upon completion of the Travel Registration application and will be charged a fee through their DePaul Student Account. After enrollment, students will receive a welcome package via email that includes policy information and an insurance card.
International Travel to Countries with Certain Travel Advisories
The U.S. Department of State issues travel advisories related to specific countries or regions. DePaul has an established approval process whereas the Provost must approve in advance travel for credit-based activities and co-curricular/extra-curricular activities to countries rated by the Department of State at a Level 3 (Reconsider Travel) or Level 4 (Do Not Travel) travel advisory for any part of the country. To find out if a country has a Travel Advisory, please visit the
U.S. Department of State website.
If travel approval is required pursuant to this policy, the sponsoring unit or student traveling independently must initiate the approval request by contacting the Office for Global Engagement (GE), after obtaining any other approvals which may be required, no less than 90 days prior to their desired departure. To request approval to travel, download and complete the
request form. Send it and any relevant attachments as one PDF to the Global Engagement Travel Registration administrator at
abroad@depaul.edu.
If you are traveling to a Level 3 or Level 4 country with a group, only one application is requested per group and it must be completed by a designated Group Leader. Applications will be reviewed by the University's Office of General Counsel, the Global Task Force, and ultimately approved or denied by the Provost. The Travel Registration administrator will inform students of the final decision via email.
