Orientation Leaders (OLs) 

To help implement DePaul’s orientation programs, the Office of New Student and Family Engagement selects 36 dynamic and mature undergraduate students to serve as Orientation Leaders (OLs). Orientation Leaders play a critical role in implementing orientation during the summer as well as throughout the 2018-19 school year, and are a valuable resource to incoming students and their family members during the transition to college life at DePaul. Orientation for first-year students (Premiere DePaul) occurs on various dates between June 21- August 30, 2018. Orientation for transfer students (Transition DePaul) occurs between June 20-September 4, 2018, as well as throughout the school year before the start of each quarter. Upon successful completion of summer employment, Orientation Leaders will have the option to remain on the orientation team and work Transition DePaul programs throughout the year.  We will be hiring candidates into two different types of Orientation Leader positions: Live-in Orientation Leader and Live-out Orientation Leader. Both Live-in and Live-out Orientation Leaders will be working with Premiere and Transition DePaul programs, welcoming and supporting both freshmen and transfer students.
  • Live-In Orientation Leader

    • Attend 6 required trainings during Spring Quarter and summer training
    • Available to work Premiere & Transition DePaul programs, totaling approximately 30 weekdays between June 20 and September 4
    • Must be available for work days beginning as early as 8 am and running through late night, with overnight responsibilities
    • Must stay on campus in the residence hall the night before and night of all assigned Premiere DePaul programs and the night before each assigned Transition DePaul program

    Compensation includes on-campus housing from June 12th to August 4th

  • Live-Out Orientation Leader

    • Attend 6 required trainings during Spring Quarter and summer training
    • Available to work Premiere and Transition DePaul programs, totaling approximately 30 weekdays between June 20 and September 4
    • Must be available for work days beginning as early as 8 am and running through 9 pm

    Compensation does NOT include on-campus housing

Chicago Quarter Mentors (CQMs)

Chicago Quarter Mentors (CQMs) are an essential part of the Chicago Quarter Program and serve as a resource to new students through their transition to DePaul University. More specifically, Chicago Quarter Mentors work with professional staff to deliver the Common Hour component of the Chicago Quarter course. Chicago Quarter Mentors work collaboratively with faculty and professional staff members to plan, deliver, and facilitate the broader curriculum of the assigned course. Chicago Quarter Mentors also connect with new students as a peer resource, both inside and outside of the classroom.

2018 Application Process

New Student and Family Engagement is hiring the next group of Chicago Quarter Mentors and Orientation Leaders. Applications will be available on the Campus Job Board on Monday, January 8th and close on Sunday, January 21st at 11:59 pm. 

All applicants must attend an information session before they apply (all information session details and provided below). Information sessions will provide in-depth details about the requirements of each position, an overview of the selection process, and answer any questions applicants may have before applying.

After applying, candidates will be contacted in early February to participate in a group interview. Group interviews will take place at various times from Monday, February 19th through Friday, February 23rd. Participation in a group interview is required for all candidates.

Candidates will be offered positions on Monday, March 12th.
