DePaul operates on a quarter system, meaning that each term is just 11 short weeks. This time passes quickly, it is important for your student to stay on top of important dates as they come up, such as winter quarter registration, which starts as early as Thursday, October 15. This comes right after the midterm exams week, so make sure your student knows their registration date and registers as early as possible in order to get into the classes they need!
Academic Advising
It’s important for students to meet with their academic advisor before they register for the next quarter. Advising appointments fill up quickly, so encourage your student to make their winter quarter registration advising appointment now.
Degree Progress Reports
Encourage your student to get ahead of the game by exploring course offerings in Campus Connect by going to Manage Classes > Browse Course Catalog or Academic Progress > Degree Progress > Run Report. There, they can click on any requirement they have and see what classes can potentially fill that requirement.
Enrollment Date
DePaul Central emails students their class enrollment dates and times, indicating when they can register for the upcoming term. Your student can also look at their enrollment dates and times on Campus Connect by going to Manage Classes > Enrollment Dates. Students can begin adding courses to their course cart for Winter Quarter 2021 two weeks prior to their registration date.
Holds, To-do’s and Warnings
Students are not able to register for classes if they have any holds, to-do’s or warnings, which they can see in Campus Connect. Make sure they check well before they register so nothing holds them up and they don’t miss out on getting the classes they want.
