Students who will be sophomores or in their second year of classes in fall 2021 may be familiar with D2L, financial aid, advising and other programs and services, but many have never set foot on campus, or maybe even in the City of Chicago.
Given this, a committee of staff and administrators from across the university have been coming together for the past month to make plans for this special group of students. Some of the initial plans include the following:
- Welcome Week will be expanded to include events specific to students new to campus. Student Involvement and New Student and Family Engagement, along with many other university departments, will work together to develop these programs and services.
- In addition, a list of resources will be developed for students new to campus and shared with students and families via a linked list of new to campus resources on several web pages on the DePaul web site. The list will consist of links to the following:
- Admissions virtual campus tour
- Housing placement form
- Off-campus housing at DePaul
- The pre-orientation online module as a refresher for second-year students
- The Orientation Campus Resource Booklet
- Campus maps
- Campus safety
- CTA maps and information
- Welcome Week
The group is continuing to refine the plan, and final details will be communicated well before the fall quarter begins. If you have questions about your second year student’s fall quarter experience, please email
