The DePaul community has seen many of our students working feverishly to balance their degree progress and work obligations while remaining safe and healthy during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Understanding that the virus will continue to affect the United States for at least the next several months, the university asks “what must be done” to better support DePaul’s student population?
President A. Gabriel Esteban, PhD, says that “we must ensure that our students have the resources they need to keep their aspirations within reach.”
Not all students have access to a reliable internet connection or other technology needed to make online classes work for them. Some students are stressed by the need to take care of young children or siblings. Others have lost jobs they needed to help make ends meet and are in danger of dropping out altogether.
In recognition of the extraordinary challenges facing our students, the university just launched an ambitious fundraising campaign: Now We Must: The Campaign for DePaul's Students.
The campaign aims to raise $60 million this academic year to support students in five crucial areas: scholarships, emergency assistance, technology, internships and mental health care, and closely aligns with DePaul's mission.
