Information on this page pertains to Lincoln Park residents. University Center residents will receive specific information from the University Center management office in early June. It is imperative that move-out deadlines are met due to short turnover periods.
Residents who do not move out on time may receive a $150 improper move fee.
If you intend to unenroll from DePaul and/or cancel housing outside of the Spring Break timeframe (March 25-29, 2024) or well before the first Spring Move-Out date (May 29, 2024), please follow instructions on the
Cancellation webpage and email
housing@depaul.edu at least 72 business hours (about 3 days) prior to the intended move-out date.
Move-Out Deadlines
Current residents must fully move out by 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, or 24 hours after their last final, whichever comes first.
-
If you are moving out prior to May 29, 2024, residents should email the professional staff member overseeing their area to schedule a checkout of the space.
- If you plan to move out on or after Wednesday, May 29, you have these options available:
- Expedited Checkout: Clean out room completely, return room key to your main lobby drop box, return mailbox key to the Student Mail Center, and exit campus. Expedited checkouts are NOT eligible for the damage billing appeal process.
- Resident Assistant (RA) Checkout: Clean out room completely, return mailbox key to the Student Mail Center, and go to the hall lobby office between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (Wednesday, May 29 - Friday, June 14) to be checked out by an RA. Please note, if a staff member is not present, please wait until they return. Students that checkout with an RA are eligible to appeal damage billing charges.
- If you plan to move out on Saturday, June 15, you must follow the expedited checkout process above.
-
If you are taking part in graduation ceremonies and need an extension, you must notify DePaul Housing at least two weeks prior to graduation (i.e., no later than Monday, May 27). Any extensions granted would be for a Monday, June 17, move out date, no later than 12:00 p.m.
-

Moving Assistance
Professional moving assistance is NOT available when moving out.
From May 29 to June 17, residents will have the option of issuing visitor wristbands for up to two (2) visitors who are actively involved in their move-out. The wristband will allow your two visitors to go in and out of the building without needing to be signed in and out each time. All visitors are required to show a valid state- or government-issued ID and have a resident present before being issued a wristband. This option may only be used once by each resident.
For on-campus residents interested in storing their belongings until the start of fall quarter, check out the Summer Storage section below which introduces DePaul Housing’s approved vendor,
Storage Scholars.
Summer Storage
Before Spring Quarter move-out, on-campus residents may be interested in signing up with DePaul Housing’s summer storage partner,
Storage Scholars. Storage Scholars is a vendor who provides students:
- Boxes and supplies to pack personal belongings.
- In-room pickup and delivery to an insured, temperature-controlled warehouse near campus for summer storage.
- Redelivery of items directly to the student’s new room or apartment at the start of fall quarter—doesn’t matter if their new residence is on- or off-campus!
Storage Scholars is a great option for all, but especially for out-of-state or international students who return home just for summer break. To learn more about this approved vendor, including pricing, visit the
Storage Scholars—DePaul University webpage:

Elevators & Access Doors
For halls with freight entrances—Sanctuary Hall, Sanctuary Townhomes, Seton Hall, and University Hall—access doors will be staffed and monitored to allow for easy move out. Elevators and access doors will be available from May 31 through June 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students who are graduating and approved to move out on June 17 may use elevators and access door until 12:00 p.m. on that day.
Please plan accordingly as requests for freight entrances/elevators outside of the designated times cannot be honored.
Parking Information
Issued visitor wristbands also include
one day of complimentary on-campus parking in the Sheffield Avenue parking garage, starting Wednesday, May 29 through Monday, June 17, 2024. Only pre-approved seniors are allowed to move-out and access free garage parking as late as Monday, June 17, 2024. There are certain street locations that have free parking as well. Please be mindful of city metering, tow zones, no-parking areas and street signage. There is no parking available for trailers on university property.
