Document & Letter Requests

​​​​​​​International Student and Scholar Services (ISS) issues several types of letters to support F-1 and J-1 visa holders at DePaul. Download the appropriate request form and read more below for instructions on how to request documents based on your visa type. After you submit your form, you will receive an email if your ISS advisor needs more information to process your request.

For F-1 Student Visa Holders

​How to Request a Re-Print of your I-20

Your I-20 is a very important document and you should keep it in a safe place and always know where it is.  However, if you lose your document, you may request a reprint from our office by logging into the ISS Portal HERE and selecting I-20 Reprint under Student Requests.

You may submit this form by email to your ISS advisor or you may drop it off at the ISS Front Desk.  Please allow 5 business days for a re-print.

Letter Requests (for F-1 Student Visa Holders)

International Student and Scholar Services (ISS) issues several types of letters to support F-1 visa holders at DePaul. If you are an F-1 student visa holder, you can request most types of letters online by viewing the instructions at the link below. After you submit your request online, you will receive an email if your ISS advisor needs more information to process your request.  Most letters will be available for you to download after 3 business days; however, the Social Security Number letter will be issued on ISS letterhead and you will need to arrange a time to pick it up in person or have it shipped to you.


To request a Rent, Bank, or F-1 Verification Letter, please log into the ISS Portal HERE and select the Visa Status Verification Letters option under Student Requests.  To request a Graduation or Social Security Number Letter, select the appropriate form under Student Requests.


The following are examples of letters you may request: 

  • To verify your legal full-time F-1 status. 
  • To verify employment status for F-1 students on OPT. 
  • To verify full-time F-1 status for students enrolled in the English Language Academy (ELA). 
  • To verify your address to assist you in opening a bank account. 
  • To invite friends and family to attend your graduation ceremony. 
  • To assist you in a Social Security Card(SSN). (SSN letters from ISS require additional steps and are issued on paper.  Please review the instructions for applying for a Social Security Number on our employment page )

For J-1 Student Visa Holders

How to Request a Re-Print of Your DS-2019 (Issued by DePaul)

Your DS-2019  is a very important document and you should keep it in a safe place and always know where it is.  However, if you lose your document, you may request a reprint from our office by logging into the ISS Portal HERE and selecting DS-2019 Reprint under Student Requests

You may submit this form by email to your ISS advisor or you may drop it off at the ISS Front Desk.  Please allow 5 business days for a re-print. ​

If DePaul University issued your DS-2019 International Student and Scholar Services (ISS) issues several types of letters to support J-1 visa holders at DePaul.  You may submit this form by email to your ISS advisor or you may drop it off at the ISS Front Desk.
