Global Coffee Hour

​​​​​​​​​​​​​ The Global Coffee Hour program orients first-year graduate and undergraduate international students to student life at DePaul and in Chicago so that they are equipped to become full members of the DePaul community, contribute to our Vincentian culture, and successfully meet their academic and personal goals. All Students are welcome to join our events!

We host the Global Coffee Hour with different theme every quarter.

All Meetings will be from 3-4:30 PM in the Loop.​​

Chicago is a big city! Whether this is your first year in Chicago or your 4th year, there is lots to learn about being successful at DePaul!

At this Global Coffee Hour, you'll meet other students, play interactive, cross-cultural games and have small group discussions about exploring Chicago - the food, the fun, and the cultures that make the Windy City so amazing.

Global Coffee Hour: Explore Chicago

Making friends can be hard, tiring, and even stressful in new environments. We want to provide tips and a space to minimize stress while connecting with others. 

At the Global Coffee Hour, you can meet other students, play interactive, cross-cultural games and have small group discussions about making friends at DePaul.

Global Coffee Hour: Making Friends

Global Coffee Hour: How to Survive a Chicago Winter is a winter-focused edition of Global Coffee Hour designed to support students during the colder months in Chicago. The event offers a relaxed and welcoming space for students to gather, connect with peers, and receive practical guidance on navigating winter life in the city.

In addition to coffee and tea, hot chocolate will be featured as the special drink for this event, creating a warm and comfortable setting for conversation and community-building. Participants will learn about winter essentials, safety in snow and icy conditions, transportation tips, and ways to stay prepared throughout the season.

This event is especially helpful for students experiencing their first Chicago winter, while remaining open and relevant to all students.

Global Coffee Hour Winter

Global Coffee Hour: Empowering Self & Others is a themed edition of Global Coffee Hour focused on personal growth, confidence, and community-building. This special winter edition combines meaningful conversation with a warm and welcoming atmosphere to encourage connection and reflection among students.

In addition to guided discussions on self-advocacy, allyship, and supporting others, the event will feature hot chocolate as the special drink, along with coffee and refreshments. Students will also have access to free pizza, as well as a limited number of free beanies and hand warmers, reinforcing the event’s focus on comfort, care, and community during the winter season.

 

This Global Coffee Hour is open to all students and provides an inclusive space to engage in thoughtful dialogue, meet new people, and build a sense of belonging within the DePaul community

Join us for a workshop on networking norms with Professor Zafar Iqbal, a panel discussion with DePaul international alumni, and hands-on networking practice with career resources from across campus.
