Dignity and Rights of Women in the Catholic Tradition

​Project summary:

  • Students from both universities shared their stories of the context and key issues in women’s rights and gender issues in their respective countries. They engaged each other on discussion board on D2L on these stories and key issues.
  • The professors provided some context and theoretical framework for the engagement through some materials on present state of research on how religious systems particularly Catholicism promote or work against the realization of the rights and dignity for women in religious leadership, politics and social issues. There was also a synchronous discussion between the students and their professors from both schools which was done through zoom. Lastly, students from both universities graded and peer-reviewed each other’s reflection paper at the end of the GLE.

  • A comparative understanding of the key issues and challenges women still face in the world today.
  • An ability to analyse the different cultural contexts and global dimension of social issues like the rights of women.
  • An ability to develop problem-solving approaches to social problems and a global outlook to social transformation in integrating one’s learning to local or global praxis.
  • A capacity for an inter-cultural understanding of specific social issues and a global outlook on social and cultural problems.

Reflection Component:

  • Peer review of reflection papers.
