Attention parents and families of graduating students!

Visit DePaul's commencement website today to prepare for commencement in June

Here is some need-to-know information for parents and family attending DePaul’s commencement.

This website is the main information hub for DePaul’s commencement ceremonies and will be updated continually with the latest information.

Access the website to find information on
  • Dates on and times for ceremonies and other events
  • Cap and gown reservations
  • Ticketing
  • Accommodations at the ceremony for guests with special needs
  • Our commencement venues (the McCormick Place Grand Ballroom for College of Law graduates and Wintrust Arena for June graduates) and much more.
Cap and Gown Ordering
The deadline to purchase their cap and gown is April 24, 2019. Before purchasing their cap and gown, students must apply for degree conferral first.

After moving its June commencement ceremonies to Wintrust Arena, DePaul realized that the benefits of Wintrust’s city location and new amenities would also require some adjustments to how we stage commencement, including instituting ticketing.

Each graduate will receive six, free general admission tickets (with the exception of the College of Law).

If you have more guests than tickets, there are several options available:
1. Students are encouraged to share any extra tickets with other graduates in their college. (Tickets will be specific to each ceremony.)
2. A ticket lottery will be available sometime in late April or early May, and University Events will share the results with those who entered. The university will share lottery instructions via email to students and on the DePaul Commencement website at a later date.
3. A live stream of the ceremonies will be available online once each ceremony begins.

Ticket Pick-up
Students have two opportunities to pick up tickets. There will be an Early Ticket Pickup on the Loop campus (April 15) and the Lincoln Park campus (April 16) for students to obtain their allotted tickets and, if they choose, to release any extra tickets they will not be using. Please encourage your student to release extra tickets they will not be using to help fellow students! All students are welcome to attend either pick up event.

Tickets will also be available for pickup at the Commencement Kick Off on June 5-11. Cap and gown pick up occurs exclusively at the Kick Off.

Students must keep close track of their tickets once they have them in hand. Lost tickets will not be replaced

Wintrust Arena adheres to strict safety procedures that the Wintrust staff enforces without exception. There will be a metal detector and security check that everyone entering the venue will have to pass through. Additionally, graduates and their guests should familiarize themselves ahead of time with the arena's strict bag and purse policy, which prohibits the entry of most purses and bags, and its list of other prohibited items. Bag check will not be available at Wintrust Arena.

Students should receive one free approved bag at the Commencement Kick Off event on June 5-11. Approved bags will also be available for sale for students to purchase for their families and guests to help them get prepared for commencement weekend.
