To
kick off the holiday season for students before winter break, DePaul University hosts two marquee holiday experiences—the Ugly Sweater Party and Tree Lighting Ceremony.In 2025, we encourage students to mark these celebratory events in their calendars:
7th Annual Ugly Sweater Party
- Date/Time: Friday, November 14 from 2-5 p.m.
- Location: Quad, Lincoln Park Campus
- Description: The Ugly Sweater Party is one of the largest campus events that brings together thousands of students for an afternoon of holiday spirit on the Lincoln Park Quad featuring interactive stations, holiday snacks, crafts, and of course, DePaul ugly sweaters for attendees (quantities are limited).
8th Annual Tree Lighting
- Date/Time: Monday, November 17 at 4:30 p.m.
- Location: St. Vincent's Circle, Lincoln Park Campus
- Description: DePaul hosts its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony to kick off the winter holiday season. This event features remarks from members of the DePaul community, a performance from the Fullertones, and more. The holiday tree serves as a beacon for students and stays lit through the end of winter break.
