The following programs are available to students who are seeking academic and personal support as they transition into college life at DePaul University.
The Office of Multicultural Student Success (OMSS) works with first-generation college students by developing sustained developmental programs to support these students' college success. First-generation students can also access unique events, workshops, and a dedicated graduate student mentor to support their time at DePaul through our Generation Success first-year cohort experience. Interested students can email Andres Velazquez for more information.
Beyond managing retention, persistence and empowerment programs, OMSS also serves as an advocacy office for first-generation college students during their time at DePaul.
Watch our Generation Success video where first-generation college students, faculty, and staff share some wisdom about being First Gen at DePaul.
Students Together Are Reaching Success (STARS) is a peer-to-peer support program for first-time DePaul Students. Our peer support coaches are passionate about helping students adjust to DePaul by hosting outings, showing students how to use resources side by side, providing academic coaching, and being a friendly face on campus. Peer support coaches will check-in with their students once a week to ensure their success.
The Transfer Success Network is a FREE program that connects you with an experienced DePaul Peer Support Coach to help you navigate your first year at DePaul. Our peer coaches understand the ups and downs of being a transfer student and are ready to help you make the most of your time as a Blue Demon! Students who are part of the Transfer Success Network will also have access to specialized resources and programs geared towards transfer student specific concerns.
