Mariani (Mari) German is a mentor, researcher, and communications specialist with a passion for addressing systemic barriers in higher education. She holds a Double Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College in Africana and Hispanic Studies, which laid the groundwork for her current studies in the Educational Studies graduate program at Tufts University. Mari's research focuses on the intersections of race, gender, and class, with the goal of dismantling structural inequalities that have historically marginalized communities from both accessing higher education and a sense of belonging when on campus.

Driven by her commitment to anti-racist practices, Mari is dedicated to shaping policies and strategies that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at academic institutions. Her professional background includes serving as an Outreach and Resource Specialist at the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life, where she led strategic communication, outreach initiatives, and impact reporting for the team. Additionally, as a Trainer at the Posse Foundation, Mari provided tailored academic, pre-professional, and socio-emotional support to students across various universities, helping them navigate their educational journeys.

Outside of work and studies, I love to travel (usually chasing the sun and warmer weather) and try new foods. When I'm not exploring or eating, I’m probably curled up with a good book or learning a new skill, like crocheting (currently making my first scarf!).
