Christal Southern serves as an Area Coordinator for the Department of Housing and Residence Life. In her role, Christal focuses on staff supervision, student support, and cultivating inclusive residential communities.
Christal was born and raised in Burlington, North Carolina. She attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration. After graduation, she worked at both Elon University and her alma mater, UNC Greensboro, serving as a Coordinator for Residence Life for a combined five years. Christal is passionate about fostering a sense of belonging for both students and professional staff through intentional leadership, meaningful engagement, and holistic development. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, babysitting her nieces and nephews, and spending time with her husband Antonio and their dog Stella.
