Barbara “Basia” Wilas is the Assistant Director of Residence Life for the Department of Housing & Residence Life. In her role, Basia supervises the 4 Residence Directors and plays a key leadership role in managing on-campus policies, procedures, and programs.
Basia (pronounced "Ba-sh-a") was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she received her bachelor’s in Speech Communication with a specialization in Public Relations and a master’s in Higher Education Administration.
After graduation, she lived in Carrollton, GA, where she served as the Residence Life Coordinator at the University of West Georgia for 4 years. She also had the opportunity of a lifetime to sail around the world with Semester at Sea to 12 different countries as a Resident Director.
