L​eadership Scholarships

The DePaul Leadership Scholars program is designed to further scholars' formation as leaders who work for positive social change in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul. This program is a four-year scholarship available only to incoming students. Information about applying can be found here. The scholarship's vision is accomplished through a leadership education course, leadership and community service initiatives, spiritual development activities and reflections, and mentorship. As leadership formation models rooted in the leadership and service example of St. Vincent, the program utilizes the Socially Responsible Leadership (SRL) and the Vincentians in Action (VIA) frameworks to promote scholars' understanding of the personal, communal, societal and global dimensions of being an agent of social change.

  • Scholars will develop their capacity for Socially Responsible Leadership.
  • Scholars will engage in service to the DePaul and Chicago communities.
  • Scholars will engage in experiences that will allow them to build relationships with other students, faculty and staff at DePaul.
  • Through the Vincentians in Action (VIA) model, students will experience, and be conversant with, the foundational Vincentian values of community, spirituality and service.

Arthur J. Schmitt Scholarship Program

Schmitt Scholarship Vision

The Arthur J. Schmitt Scholarship program is intended to identify talented students and help develop them into socially responsible leaders. It is designed to further students' formation as leaders who work for positive social change in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul and Arthur J. Schmitt. This vision is accomplished through leadership education, leadership initiatives, and reflection.

Schmitt Scholarship Goals
  • Scholars will engage in leadership development experiences which will enhance their understanding of leadership and their capacity for leadership.
  • Scholars will develop their capacity for Socially Responsible Leadership.
  • Scholars will engage in service to the DePaul and/or Chicago communities through a leadership project.
  • Scholars will participate in regular reflection around their leadership journey and project.
  • Scholars will engage in experiences that will allow them to build relationships with other students, faculty and staff at DePaul.


2016 - 2017 Adult Student Affairs Scholarship Program

The Office of Adult Student Affairs is pleased to announce their Scholarship Program for the 2016-2017 academic year. This program is designed to assist the growing number of adult learners who are returning to school. Adult undergraduates (24+ years of age), graduate, professional, and military veteran students (regardless of age) are eligible to apply to the applicable scholarship.

Two Adult Undergraduates (24+ or a veteran) and Two Graduate/Profession Students will be chosen from their respective applicant pools in Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. The Undergraduate award is $1,000 and the Graduate Student award is $1,500. These awards are not renewable and recipients of the scholarships cannot apply for another Adult Student Affairs Scholarship in the same academic year.

Students who apply, and who are not awarded a scholarship each quarter may apply again within the same academic year. Recipients of the scholarship have the option of having the funds applied to their tuition or towards a DePaul University sponsored Study Abroad trip for the quarter in which they are awarded the scholarship.Students awarded the scholarship must be enrolled at least half time or registered for the study abroad trip in the term for the quarter in which they are awarded the scholarship. Current financial aid packages may be adjusted when the scholarships are applied.

Deadline for Application

Only applications completed before the following dates by 11 pm central time will be considered. No paper applications will be accepted. You must apply on the Scholarship Portal below.

  • Fall Quarter application period – August 3 - September 2, 2016
  • Winter Quarter application period – October 26- November 23, 2016
  • Spring Quarter application period – February 1 to March 1, 2017

Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship program, you must:

  • Have financial need as determined by the results of your FAFSA. All students need to have a FAFSA on file to be considered. By submitting this scholarship application, you are giving the Office of Adult Student Affairs permission to obtain information from your FAFSA report.
  • Be a continuing DePaul student who is currently enrolled at least part-time as a graduate (4 credit hours), professional (9 hours) or undergraduate (8 hours).
  • Be an adult student. Adult student is defined as an undergraduate student who is 24 years of age or older. All graduate, military veteran, and professional students may apply regardless of age.
  • Have a cumulative 3.5 GPA
  • Completely answer all sections of online application and essay. Applications with incomplete sections will be disqualified.
  • Submit the application online by the deadline date and time.

Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

2016-2017 Professional Development Fund

The Professional Development Fund allows adult students (undergraduates over 24 and graduate students) to apply for partial or full funding of professional organizations, associations, conference attendance, seminars, etc. Travel is not covered. Office of Multicultural Student Success (OMSS) Scholarships

OMSS provides scholarships to facilitate the retention, persistence, and graduation of first generation students and students of color who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to service and academic excellence. Scholarship Opportunities for Students with Disabilities

  • Deloitte Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
    Offered annually to enrolled CSD students majoring in business and/or accounting. Announcements are posted and applications submitted through the DePaul Scholarship Connect.
  • Chronic Illness Scholarship
    Offered annually to enrolled undergraduate CSD students challenged with a chronic illness. Announcements are posted and applications are submitted through the DePaul Scholarship Connect.​
