Remarks will be provided by Dr. Ruth Langer: SIXTY YEARS AFTER NOSTRA AETATE: A JEWISH PERSPECTIVE ON ITS UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

The Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Jerusalem Lecture continues and enriches the relationship between Jews and Catholics with an annual lecture on the theological issues affecting their communities. Each year’s lecture alternates between a Jewish/Catholic speaker and location.

Dr. Ruth Langer is Professor of Jewish Studies in the Theology Department at Boston College, its Director of Graduate Studies, and Associate Director of its Center for Christian-Jewish Learning. She received her Ph.D. in Jewish Liturgy in 1994 and her rabbinic ordination in 1986 from Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati. Her scholarship addresses two primary areas: the development of Jewish liturgy and ritual from antiquity to today; and Christian-Jewish relations.

Validated Parking is available in the Sheffield Lot, 2331 N Sheffield Ave.
Public transportation via CTA at Fullerton stop. Nearby buses: #74, #8

Travel details:

  • Limited free and/or metered parking spots are available on Fullerton, Halsted, and Lincoln Avenues.
  • Validated parking vouchers will be distributed at the event.
  • Directions from the parking lot: Exit the garage on foot, walk south on Sheffield Avenue and turn east on Belden Avenue. Walk under the “El" tracks and past the DePaul soccer field (Wish Field). The next left after the field is Fremont Street. The driveway is usually gated, but there is a sidewalk going north to the Commons. 
  • Directions from the CTA station/#74 bus: Exit at the Fullerton stop and walk east on the south side of the street, towards Halsted. Turn south at Fremont Street which is a gated driveway. There is a sidewalk leading south to the Commons
  • DROP OFF: If you are driving and plan to drop off a passenger, please note that the venue is not accessible from Fullerton Avenue.   Instead, drive east along Belden Avenue from Sheffield. Turn left onto North Chalmers Place. Follows signage/one ways to the west to Fremont Street and drop off in front of Cortelyou Commons. You should be able to exit on Chalmers Place after drop-off.
