The Division of Mission and Ministry exists to advance and sustain the Catholic and Vincentian mission of DePaul University by helping ensure it is lived, experienced, and transformative for all those who are part of the university community.
Inspired by the example of Vincent de Paul and Louise de Marillac and grounded in the larger Vincentian tradition, we help cultivate a university where:
- There is a shared understanding of DePaul’s Catholic and Vincentian identity, and our mission continues to take root, evolve, and inspire action in new and meaningful ways.
- Mission is integrated into teaching, learning, leadership, decision-making, policy and practice.
- Areas collaborate across boundaries to advance student belonging, engagement, success and thriving.
- People experience their work and learning as connected to meaning, purpose, hope, and social transformation.
- Community is shaped by dignity and belonging and marked by authentic relationships, personalism and professionalism, dialogue, advocacy, and mutual responsibility.
- People of all faith traditions and worldviews are invited into prayer, spiritual growth, and deeper engagement with questions of meaning, purpose, values, and faith.
- Service and reflection inspire action for greater justice and systemic change, particularly in solidarity with those who are excluded, overlooked, or denied full participation in society.
- Graduates are prepared not only for successful careers but for purposeful lives characterized by ethical leadership, critical reflection, healthy relationships, bridgebuilding, and a commitment to human flourishing.
Through our work, the Division of Mission and Ministry helps to shape not only the present character of DePaul, but the future expression of its mission in the world.
