Religious & Spiritual Life

The Division of Mission and Ministry supports and nurtures the spiritual and faith life of the university through the ministry and programs offered by Catholic Campus Ministry, the Religious Diversity and Pastoral Care team, and the Vincentian Service and Formation team. Spirituality, service, and a commitment to justice are at the heart of the learning that happens at DePaul. Mission and Ministry can help you find lifelong friends, make a difference in the world around you, and develop a community in which you can live out the vision and Vincentian values of the university.

Our Vision

The Division of Mission and Ministry strengthens institution-wide attention to the religious and spiritual development of students and to service with people who are poor and marginalized. These are integral dimensions of DePaul’s Catholic-Vincentian mission and essential elements of the DePaul student experience. Our work has a positive, visible, and measurable impact on the religious and spiritual life of the DePaul community.

As a Catholic and Vincentian community we stand on five pillars:
  • Our Vincentian history and living legacy
  • Spirituality
  • Service and systemic change
  • Leadership
  • Diversity and inclusion.

Living out our vision

We live out our vision through regular worship and public prayer, Vincentian leadership and education, accompaniment and pastoral care. Paramount to our vision is offering service opportunities across Chicago, our country, and world, encouraging students to develop their faith and spiritual lives in light of their service involvement. Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, seeking, and questioning students are all part of the diverse spiritual community at DePaul who are invited into and engage in these ministries.

Come visit a staff member, attend weekly mass, pray in one of our sacred spaces, experience worship and celebrations from diverse faith perspectives, hang out in the Catholic Campus Ministry, Jewish Life, or Muslim life centers. We'd love to get to know you!
