DePaul offers a wide array of curricular and co-curricular opportunities in global health and intercultural health issues. Building on the strong foundation of the Global Fluency Certificate, the Global Health Undergraduate Certificate will be offered as an approach that allows us to leverage established curriculum, infrastructure, and experiential learning opportunities while creating a focused pathway for students passionate about global health.
Any undergraduate student is eligible. Once earned, the certificate is recorded on transcripts
Requirements
To earn the certificate, students must satisfy ALL of the following:
- Foreign Language Proficiency: Students must demonstrate competence in a modern language equivalent to the proficiency attained from one year of college-level language study. To see how such competence can be demonstrated, visit this website.
- Global Experiential Learning: Students must complete at least one global experiential learning opportunity. This requirement can be satisfied by completing one of the following:
- An international or virtual international internship.
- Global Learning Courses: Students must take and pass at least 4 (four) Global Learning tagged courses.
- Two global health themed courses. HLTH 360 (Introduction to Global Health, with a GLE component) and HLTH 272 (Medical Anthropology).
- Two additional GL tagged courses. These must fall outside the student's major and outside the Liberal Studies Program. Find them in the Class Search and Enroll function on Campus Connect.
- Overall GPA of 2.67 or better.
