DePaul offers a wide array of curricular and co-curricular opportunities in global health and intercultural health issues. Students can already earn a Global Fluency Certificate in recognition of their interest in global issues. The Global Health Certificate is an additional track that officially recognizes undergraduates who elect a global health emphasis in their studies.
Any undergraduate student is eligible. Once earned, the certificate is recorded on transcripts.

Requirements
To earn the certificate, students must satisfy ALL of the following:
Language Proficiency. Beginning proficiency in a language other than English. Satisfied by completing language courses up to 103 with a C or better, or by passing an assessment test administered by the Modern Languages Department.
One global experiential component. Choose one: study abroad, a Global Learning Experience (GLE) tagged course, an International Campus Ministry service trip, or an international internship.
Two global health themed courses. HLTH 360 (Introduction to Global Health, with a GLE component) and HLTH 272 (Medical Anthropology).
Two additional GL tagged courses. These must fall outside the student's major and outside the Liberal Studies Program. Find them in the Class Search and Enroll function on Campus Connect.
Overall GPA of 2.67 or better.
The Modern Language Requirement (MLR)
All students must demonstrate competence in a modern language equivalent to one year of college-level study. This may be met by:
Placing into 104 or above on the DePaul language placement exam
Completing the last course, or earning AP/IB credit, for the final course in the first-year college sequence of any language (e.g. 103)
Completing a course, or earning AP/IB credit, beyond the first-year level in any language (e.g. 104 or above)
Completing the final course of a four-year high school sequence in the same modern language*
Passing a proctored exam through BYU (see the Department of Modern Languages website for registration details)
Passing a proctored Written Proficiency Test (WPT) through Language Testing International (LTI) with a score of Beginner High or above (see the Department of Modern Languages website for registration details)
*Students who met the MLR through high school study are strongly encouraged to take the DePaul placement exam anyway, to ensure they continue language study at the proper level.
Please note: Modern Languages courses with an E-designation are taught in English and do not count toward the Modern Language Requirement.
Students who complete an Inter-College Transfer (ICT) to the College follow the MLR in place on the effective date of the ICT, regardless of when they first matriculated at DePaul.
Students who have met the MLR and wish to continue may elect the Modern Language Option.
