Purpose
The Global Engagement Fellowship recognition is designed to acknowledge faculty whose work demonstrates meaningful global engagement and strong potential for continued impact. This recognition builds on the existing Global Engagement Faculty Award (GEFA) process and creates a supportive pathway for recognizing outstanding faculty contributions to global teaching, research, service, partnerships, and cross-cultural understanding.
Eligibility and Application Process
- All eligible GEFA applicants will automatically be considered for the Global Engagement Fellowship recognition. No additional application is required.
- Faculty may receive the Global Engagement Fellowship recognition only once throughout their career at DePaul.
- Faculty who are named Global Engagement Fellows remain eligible to apply for the Global Engagement Faculty Award in future years, in accordance with GEFA eligibility guidelines.
Criteria
Global Engagement Fellows will be selected using the existing GEFA criteria, including demonstrated contributions to:
- Global education and curriculum internationalization
- Global research, creative activity, or cross-border collaboration
- Service, partnerships, and mentorship related to global engagement
- Cross-cultural understanding and global competency
- Sustained commitment to DePaul's global mission
The committee may name up to three Fellows per year, depending on the strength of the applicant pool, and reserves the right not to name Fellows in a given year. The recognition is intended to complement the Global Engagement Faculty Award while helping build a broader community of faculty committed to DePaul's global mission.
Recognition and Community Building
Fellows will receive a formal certificate recognizing their selection, along with the title/designation of “Global Engagement Fellow," which they may display, include in professional records, and list on faculty profiles, CVs, or other university materials. The Fellowship may also help build a community of globally engaged faculty across DePaul. Fellows may be expected to participate in global engagement-related activity each year, such as mentoring faculty, serving on a panel, supporting GLE or Study Abroad initiatives, participating in a conference, or contributing to outreach events.
