Global Engagement Welcomes New Team Members

With the start of the new year, we welcomed two new team members to the Global Engagement team: Emily Kraus joined as our Assistant Director for Special Programs, and will manage a variety of special programs such as the Vincentian High School Summer Program, the Language and Pedagogy Institute Summer Program, all incoming short-term programs for international partner institutions, and the Faculty Ambassador program, among others. She will also be supporting the work of the Associate Directors for Regional Initiatives. Emily is a triple demon with PhD in Curriculum Studies, MEd in Bilingual Bicultural Education and BA in Women and Gender Studies, and previously worked for 7 years in our Student Affairs division with various administrative coordination roles. During her time at DePaul she also served as staff mentor for Discover Chicago and trip leader for University Ministry Service Immersion trips in the US and abroad. Additionally, she has over 4 years of international teaching experience, including 2.5 years of leadership in a foreign language department in Costa Rica.

We are also delighted to announce that Megan Otermat has joined our International Admission team, as an Assistant Director of international graduate student recruitment.  A graduate of Mount Holyoke College (IR & German Studies) and North Central College (MBA), Megan volunteered in Germany, directed a high school exchange program, and served as international student advisor at the University of Chicago before moving to North Central College to develop their international recruitment network.  Megan is excited to now join DePaul’s Global Engagement team. When not in the office, Megan enjoys reading, hiking, biking and planning trips to do all of the above in sunny locations like Germany, Barbados or New Zealand.
