Faculty Resources

Adjunct Resources

The university recognizes the many ways adjunct faculty enrich academic life at DePaul and offers services and benefits to support them in their role as members of a faculty that is second to none.

Scholarship

DePaul places research at the center of the university life.  DePaul promotes faculty research work as public intellectuals and its teacher-scholar model allows faculty to bring cutting-edge and societally impactful ideas and projects into their classrooms and empower students with the state-of-the-art.  The University provides several resources through university and college-wide funding programs.  Scholarship is expected of all tenure-track faculty and is conducted in an extraordinary range of interests at DePaul that contributes to learning and scholarship, influences Chicago communities, and impacts the world.

Service

DePaul is a learning community whose vitality depends on the voluntary efforts of the faculty collaborating to promote the common good. All faculty members are expected to participate in the collective life of the university through fulfilling their individual service responsibilities.

Teaching

As a university whose first priority is teaching, DePaul offers a variety of resources to support the classroom and online experience, and to help faculty remain up-to-date with best practices so as to continually improve their craft.

Working at DePaul

Working at DePaul University as a faculty member can be viewed through two different lenses—as a member of the academy and as an employee of the university. Resources addressing each of those two views are offered.

Faculty Exit Interview

The DePaul Faculty Exit Interview process is designed to collect climate and other qualitative data from faculty as they separate from the university.  Although some degree of turnover is to be expected as a result of retirements, personal circumstances, and career advancements, DePaul recognizes the importance of identifying environment and other workplace issues that may also contribute to turnover.

Faculty Mentoring Program

At DePaul University, all faculty at the assistant Professor rank are offered mentoring through their school or college. This mentoring consists of career-advancing guidance as well as social support for the faculty member.
