Global Fluency Certificate Gains Popularity

This September 2019, Global Engagement launched the new Global Fluency Certificate (GFC), a credential  that recognizes students who have strategically pursued cross-cultural learning through global-focused classes and activities. The certificate is available to all undergraduate students, facilitated by Global Engagement but awarded by the student’s home college.

In the first week of launch, approximately 50 students registered for GFC, showing its popularity and students’ thirst to learn and showcase their skills in intercultural competency, virtual collaboration, foreign language, and more!

Requirements of the GFC include:

  • At least one year of college-level Foreign Language Proficiency

  •  Global Experiential Learning, which can be satisfied by completion of one of the following activities:

  • Four Global-Learning tagged courses, two of which must be outside of the student’s major

  •  GPA of 2.67 or better

Supporting the launch of the GFC is our new Assistant Director, Tiffany Ho, who comes to DePaul with experience in student affairs and study abroad. Over the next few months, she will be partnering with several departments to market the new program, as well as serve as an advisor to students registered for GFC.
