Every graduate student, regardless of their degree, benefits from developing knowledge, skills and attitudes to appropriately interact with others in this globalized world. DePaul’s Global Competency Certificate is an opportunity to document how they are developing such intercultural competences during their graduate studies at DePaul. This graduate-level certificate was recently launched as a companion to the existing undergraduate Global Fluency Certificate.
To earn the Global Competency Certificate, students must demonstrate learning experiences from the categories below. Students who earn 50 points across 3 of the 5 categories are eligible for the certificate.
- New Language Skills - Language coursework taken during the graduate program
- Global Experiential Learning conducted through:
- Courses with a Global Learning Experience (GLE) project
- A DePaul sponsored Study Abroad program
- A Division of Mission and Ministry (DMM) service trip (international only)
- Global Learning Courses - Up to two courses pre-identified with Global Learning Content
- International Scholarship & Creative Activities - international case competitions, article submission, conference attendance and/or presentation
- International Practice - international internship/work experience, volunteer community work, or networking events
