Between 2021 and 2022, two staff members closely working with DePaul University’s Global Learning Experience program applied and were awarded Fulbright Specialist Awards for their work in virtual exchange.
Rositsa (Rosi) León, director of virtual exchange and online learning at DePaul became a Fulbright specialist in late 2021, and completed her first assignment at the Universidad de Mendoza (UM) in Argentina in the summer of 2022. During the intensive three-week visit, Rosi Leon conducted a series of workshops, training, info sessions and meetings with various stakeholders (including highest level of university and schools’ leadership, faculty, and students, and members of UM’s international team) across UM’s three campuses in the cities of Mendoza, San Rafael and Rio Cuarto. One of the main goals of the visit was to spearhead the implementation of a university-wide virtual exchange program at UM, in order to engage further UM’s faculty and students in virtual exchange collaborations.
Also in the summer of 2022, Joe Olivier, senior instructional designer from DePaul’s Center for Teaching and Learning, and one of the co-facilitators of DePaul’s workshop on VE design and implementation, was approved as Fulbright Specialist and is currently in the process of being matched with an international counterpart.
