New Associate Director for Regional Initiatives-Latin America

Global Engagement welcomed a new team member at the start of this academic year. Maria DeMoya Taveras, Associate Professor of Public Relations in the College of Communication is our new Associate Director for Regional initiatives (ADRI) - Latin America. Maria joins Prof. Zafar Iqbal and Prof. Hui Lin as our third ADRI and will continue the work spearheaded by Esther Quintero in cultivating and sustaining partnerships with Latin American Institutions, and supporting student and faculty mobility.  One of Maria’s important tasks is to facilitate the creation of new partnerships for faculty members interested in implementing Global Learning Experience projects with colleagues in Latin America. Maria has hit the ground running with hosting two incoming groups of students from Tecnologico de Monterrey and Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) and she is supporting CDM and CMN faculty in implementing a 100K strong grant for the creation of an anti-bullism computer game in collaboration with Universidad Catolica de Manizales, one of our  partner institutions in Colombia. We invite all faculty members interested in deepening their engagement with Latin American partners or Latin American communities in Chicago to reach out to Maria.
