In the Spring of 2018, the American Council of Education (ACE) launched a call for proposals among American institutions of higher education to develop virtual exchange projects with Japanese partners. The ACE US-Japan COIL Initiative aimed at selecting six US institution to work with Japanese universities, while the Ministry of Education and Technology (MEXT) in Japan was running a parallel competition to select 10 institutions to engage in virtual exchange. DePaul University was chosen as one of the six American institutions to participate in the ACE initiative. Prof. Chikamatsu Chandler and Prof Yuki Miyamoto are part of this project with partners from Nagasaki University, assisted by Alex Joppe from the Center for Teaching and Learning. DePaul’s selection is further recognition for the success of our GLE program.
