Global Conversations

Since May of 2020, Global Conversations (GCs) have been engaging students from all over the world in dialogue over a variety of fun, challenging, and thought-provoking topics. Over 3,600 students have participated in this annual series of conversations that unfold in a 90-minute session via Zoom. The GCs are facilitated by expert faculty from DePaul in collaboration with faculty from over 60 different institutions on every habitable continent.

Be a part of the dialogues! There is no fee or prerequisite to join a GC for students, and DePaul faculty are encouraged to propose topics of discussion with guiding questions. Global Engagement is happy to share that Round 9 is in the works for Spring 2025:

Save the Date:  April 28-May 8, 2025

The call to propose a topic can be found on our website here and the deadline to submit a short proposal is January 17, 2025.

Some previous GC sessions have included,

  • Food, Culture, Identity
  • Tourism and climate change: How does culture affect tourist decision making?
  • Urban Design for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Visions of ‘Democracy’ under Stress

Students have shared positive feedback on their experiences in talking with their international counterparts. One student shared that after the session they were inclined to “Think globally, act locally.” Another student noted, “I will take away the idea that DePaul as well as other institutions around the world are making an effort to connect on an approachable scale in a global way… I believe these types of exercises should be continued without a doubt.”
