Human Dignity Advocates
In alignment with our Catholic and Vincentian Mission as expressed through our Thriving Framework, Human Dignity Advocates is a pilot program that will establish a university-wide network of trained faculty and staff who can serve as trusted points of connection for students affected by a broad range of issues and barriers.
They will walk alongside students, connecting them to the people and resources they need, from financial aid and employment to wellness, pastoral care and other barriers that may prevent students from thriving. Given the urgent needs of students impacted by immigration-related uncertainty, we will begin with support in that area. By listening with compassion, responding without judgment and connecting students to the right support, these advocates will help ensure that every student feels seen, valued and accompanied.
Advocates are not attorneys and will not interpret immigration law. Instead, they will guide students in finding the right people and support resources who can help. To learn more or get connected to a Human Dignity Advocate, you can contact Dr Candice Maxwell at CMAXWE10@depaul.edu.
