personnel assisted the student and called CPD and CFD. A CPD report was made. |

The fire was found to be behind the building just to the north of our Daley Building at 247 S State St. What seemed to be a small shelter for a homeless person was on fire. No one was reported injured, both CFD and CPD responded. There was no damage to any DePaul property.

| Feb 15, 2024 | Thefts | Loop Campus | Feb 15, 20244:30 PM | On at least three recent occasions DePaul affiliated people have been victims of a financial crime perpetrated by people soliciting for donations to a drumming program. The solicitor approaches them on the sidewalk, shows a flyer about a drumming program and asks for a donation. The victims agreed to make a donation to the program using a cash app, and when they did the offender took their phone or convinced them to hand it over. The offender then sent additional money from the victim's account to their own. Many solicitors are legitimate, and we are always considerate of the Vincentian mission. To avoid becoming a victim of this type of scam DO NOT give your phone to someone you do not know.

The offenders demanded the student's personal belonging and they displayed a gun. The student did not comply with the offenders demands and was able to run away unharmed.

| Sep 09, 20231:00 AM | There were three robberies and one battery that occurred within minutes and it appears that the offenders may be the same for incidents.
The first incident happened at 935 W. Fullerton (walkway next to Fullerton El Station). Two students were approached by two male offenders who demanded their belongings. Students were not injured.
The second incident happened at 949 W. Belden (corner of Belden and Sheffield). Three students were approached by two male offenders who demanded their belongings. Students were not injured.
The third incident happened at 1047 W. Fullerton (corner of Kenmore and Fullerton). In this incident the two students were approached by two male offenders who demanded their belongings. One student was hit by an offender. This is a Robbery and a Battery.
The offenders used a red sedan to leave the area.

A tall male, slender build, wearing a Cubs hat approached two females in separate incidents. In both incidents the offender held the female's hands or arms and he tried to have a conversation with them. The conversation was inappropriate and revolved around a sexual nature.
The first incident was near the Student Center at the corner of Belden and Sheffield which took place at approximately 10:20am.
The second incident with the same offender took place on the 1st floor of SAC in the hallway that leads over to the Richardson Library and was at approximately 10:50am.
Public Safety searched the area, including surrounding buildings and was unable to locate the offender.

The offender got back into the SUV and left the area. |

The two males stated that they had weapons but did not display the weapons and demanded the personal property of the females. One of the females also reported that she was inappropriately touched by one of the offenders. |

When the store clerk attempted to stop the offenders the clerk was pushed and knocked down outside the store on Jackson. The 2 offenders fled the area. CPD was notified and a report was made. |

While speaking to this student we were notified of a second attack at the Sheffield Garage. The student there was able to get away and the offender left the area.
The same offender in the first two incidents then took a backpack from Student Center.
The offender is in custody. |

The first incident, which involved non-consensual physical contact, occurred at an event in the Student Center on the evening of August 29th. The second incident, which involved a non-consensual sex act, occurred in Corcoran Hall on the evening of August 31st. Both incidents are being actively investigated.

A male wearing a yellow polo shirt with a number on it entered the store, showed a handgun and announced a robbery. The clerk ran out of the store, the offender emptied the register and fled East bound on Van Buren.

The offender is described as a young male 5’7” with brown hair wearing a black hat and coat.

-Please properly lock your bike to the bike racks by securing the frame as well as any quick release tires.
-Do not use cable or chain locks as your primary lock as these are easily compromised.
-It is recommended that you use a U style lock or better. One lock is good, two are better.
-There is a large bike rack area available for you use on the 1st floor of the Clifton Garage.
-There is also a gated Bike Corral located by McCabe Hall. You need to register at Parking Services to use this corral.

The person holding the flyer solicits a contribution for the purported organization, while placing the paper over the cell phone, laptop or wallet before taking the item and walking away. The thieves also often work in a group of two or three, with one distracting and the other taking the item.Public Safety reminds you to be aware of your surroundings and property when you are in public places, and recommends that you not leave your property exposed on table tops. Soliciting for actual charitable organizations is not prohibited in Chicago, although on DePaul property it is subject to approval.
