Airport Welcome

Sign up for DePaul's Airport Welcome Program - Fall 2019! An enthusiastic group of DePaul volunteers will meet you at Chicago O’Hare Airport on August 31st or September 1st, 2019 and welcome you to Chicago.  Volunteers will answer any questions you have about how to get to orientation from September 3rd-6th and how to travel safely to your final destination for your first night in Chicago. Because we have students who will live all over the city, our volunteers are not able to travel with you to your final destination. They will help make sure you get to a taxi that will take you directly there.

As you plan your arrival in Chicago, please review the frequently asked questions below. Don't hesitate to email us at if you have any additional quesitons.

Please use this online form to tell us when you plan to arrive.  We will send you a confirmation email to let you know we received your flight information and that we will have volunteers at the airport at that time. Once you receive an email from your participation in the program is confirmed.

Please plan your flight to Chicago, so that you arrive at Chicago O’Hare Airport on August 31 or September 1.

We strongly recommend you take a taxi from the airport to your final destination for your first night in Chicago. Our volunteers will answer your questions and help you figure out the best way to travel to your new Chicago home for your first night.  Please note: volunteers will not travel in the taxi or on the train with you. If you want to read more about transportation options from the airport, please read these travel suggestions.
If you are arriving in Chicago on a different date, in a different terminal or at a different Chicago airport, please use these travel suggestions to plan your travel from the airport.  We look forward to seeing you at orientation.

This is up to you!  But be sure to have a concrete plan before you depart your country.

  • If you have already reserved housing on-campus, and if you have registered for the on-campus orientation that starts on Tuesday September 3rd, then you can check the date of move in for Fall Quarter with the department of housing. If you arrive before this date, then you will need to reserve a hotel for your first night.

  • If you have not already reserved housing on-campus, then you should look for an apartment off-campus.  Consider booking temporary housing in a hotel or hostel and then looking for an apartment after you arrive. Read more on our website for more information regarding housing options.
