Launch Your Innovation

ORS, through its Technology Transfer Office, works with faculty to advance and support their innovations. Support through Technology Transfer can take many forms, depending on the goals and needs of the innovator. TTO provides guidance and resources related to intellectual property protection, commercialization strategies, patent support, and revenue-sharing arrangements to help move innovations from concept to impact.

In many instances, faculty retain ownership of the intellectual property associated with their innovations. DePaul’s Discovery and Copyright Policy also allows faculty to enter into agreements with the university on mutually agreeable terms related to intellectual property protection, commercialization support, patent funding, and revenue-sharing arrangements.

For faculty interested in pursuing patent protection or commercialization opportunities under terms that differ from the university’s standard intellectual property policy, ORS offers an optional pathway that outlines support for patent-related expenses and alternative revenue-sharing arrangements. Faculty interested in exploring this option may submit the ORS Internal Application for Patent Funding and/or Commercialization to initiate discussions regarding intellectual property protection, commercialization strategy, and available support for advancing innovations toward market impact. Submit the form to academicinnovation@depaul.edu.
