The Office of the General Counsel serves as the champion for the DePaul University Records Management program. For many legal, fiduciary, and historical reasons, the university has declared several information sources as official records. Guided by the principles of the
Records Management Policy and directed by the information in the Records Retention Schedule, the OGC works with all university departments to effectively manage and govern records and information.
The goal of the Records Management program is to establish the criteria for retention and disposal of university records to ensure that University departments retain the necessary information to meet legal, financial, administrative, and historical needs and dispose of non-essential records in a timely and appropriate manner.
The OGC also partners with the Special Collections & Archives to preserve the history of DePaul University.
