Slate Improves Orientation Registration Process for New Freshmen

Registering for Premiere orientation just got easier for incoming DePaul students
with a new process that went live in early April 2018. Registration moved from Campus Connect to Blue Demon Domain, an online portal powered by Slate, which facilitates the enrollment process next steps for applicants and newly admitted students.

With Premiere now in Slate, students enjoy a more seamless and modern web experience. They can register for sessions, as well as Chicago Quarter classes, from one centralized online location as part of their Blue Demon Domain “Next Steps Checklist,” and from any device, since the platform is web responsive. They can also edit their major in the new registration form, which provides an updated list of sessions based on the college selected.

Another improvement the system provides is customized messaging based on where each student is in the enrollment process. In addition, staff can send communications to students as needed prior to their orientation date. Slate eliminates the need for manual data tracking and email deployment, ensuring the timely distribution of information. Moreover, staff can access more student data points through custom-built queries, helping improve registration on the back-end.

Nearly two years after its launch, Slate continues to improve the university’s online processes and transactions. It has enabled increased efficiency with DePaul’s recruitment communications, streamlined the enrollment process, and now has improved Premiere registration. All of these advances distinguish Slate from previous technology systems, and EMM will continue to find new and creative ways to utilize its capabilities.
