2024 Contests Official Rules

Summer in Chi 2024

Official Rules

1.     Eligibility.  DePaul University’s Summer in Chi (the “Contest”) is open to undergraduate students admitted for Fall 2024 who register for an upcoming Premiere or Transition DePaul orientation & advising appointment on or before July 1st at 11:59pm.  Attendance at a Premier or Transition DePaul orientation & advising appointment is not required for eligibility. You must cancel your appointment before the date to avoid the orientation fee.

2.     Sponsor. The Contest is sponsored by DePaul University, an Illinois not for profit corporation with its principal place of business located at 1 E. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60604.

3.     Compliance with Official Rules. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all of the requirements set forth herein.

4.     How to Enter. Admitted undergraduate students who log on to Blue Demon Domain and register for a Premiere or Transition DePaul orientation & advising appointment prior to July 1st at 11:59pm will be automatically entered into the Contest. All late entries will be considered void. No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest. A purchase will not increase an entrant’s odds of winning the Contest.

5.     Prize Drawing. On or about July 2nd DePaul will select 2 potential winner(s) by a random drawing from among all eligible entries received. Once a potential winner is selected, they will not be eligible for subsequent prize drawings.  The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received.

6.     Winner Notification.  The potential winners will be notified via email. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to respond to DePaul within 3 days, or if a prize is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner forfeits their prize. If a potential winner is a minor in their state of residence, DePaul reserves the right to award the prize in the name of the winner’s parent or legal guardian. Winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, DePaul will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries. Prizes will be fulfilled within approximately 2 months after the conclusion of the Contest.

7.     Prizes. Random drawings will be held for each of the following prizes, in the following order:

Chicago Experience Bundle (1 bundle per winner) - Architectural Boat Tour ($50/ticket; 2 tickets = $100), Second City Tickets ($60/ticket; 2 tickets = $120), Wondr Museum ($35/ticket; 2 tickets = $70) Prizes may be subject to tax reporting and applicable withholding.

8.     General Conditions. In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to, fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention, or other technical problem, or in the event the Contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by DePaul in its sole discretion, DePaul may, in its sole discretion, (a) suspend the Contest to address the issue and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules; or (b) terminate the Contest and, in the event of termination award the prizes at random from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment. DePaul reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operating of the Contest or to be otherwise acting in violation of these Official Rules or any university policy.

9.     Release and Limitation of Liability. By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless DePaul, its trustees, officers, employees, representatives, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of or relating to participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize awarded. The Released Parties are not responsible for any false, incorrect, or inaccurate information submitted to DePaul for entry into the Contest. Entrants waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages relating to their participation in the Contest.

10.  Privacy. Information collected from entrants is subject to DePaul’s privacy policies and will be protected in accordance with applicable law, including but not limited to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA, 20 USC 1232g).
