Credit hours generated at the Lincoln Park and Loop campuses were equivalent in 2018 (42 percent from each campus). Off-campus locations (including on-site partnerships, Cinespace, Harper College, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, study abroad and overseas hours) generated 11,336 hours in 2018, and account for 4 percent of all fall credit hours. Online course credit hours increased to 33,565, up 2 percent compared with 2017, and account for 12 percent of all fall credit hours.
Online Students and Credit Hours
The proportion of students taking some online courses has increased from 13 percent in 2014 to 21 percent in 2018 (3,145 and 4,605 students, respectively), while the proportion of students taking exclusively online courses has been relatively constant between 7 to 8 percent (1,759 and 1,835 students, respectively).
Of undergraduate and graduate students enrolled exclusively online, most are enrolled part-time (83 and 63 percent, respectively) and are from the Chicago metropolitan area (84 and 65 percent, respectively).
