The Art Safety Manual provides basic information for working safely with chemicals and operations in Visual Arts.
Bloodborne Pathogen Program
The purpose of this plan is to ensure that all university personnel are made aware of potential workplace hazards resulting from exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.
Chemical Hygiene Plan
The goal of the Chemical Hygiene Plan is to minimize the risk of injury or illness to laboratory workers by ensuring that they have the training, information, support and equipment needed to work safely in the laboratory.
Compressed Gas Safety Manual
The Compressed Gas Safety Manual was created to ensure the safe use of compressed gases and all associated equipment.
Confined Space Program
OSHA developed the Permit-Required Confined Space Standard (29 CFR 1910.146) to prevent injuries and accidental deaths associated with confined spaces. The standard mandates that all confined spaces be identified and that a written program outline the necessary procedures associated with confined space entry.
Controlled Substances Program
This program outlines the requirements and responsibilities for the possession and use of controlled substances for authorized research activities at DePaul University. Because select faculty use and/or maintain controlled substances for research activities, the university must comply with federal and state laws and regulations regarding their use, storage and disposal.
Fall Protection Program
The Fall Protection Program was designed to specify when fall protection systems must be used, provide guidance on selecting appropriate equipment and establish procedures for its safe use.
Fume Hoods Manual
The Fume Hoods Manual contains information on different types of fume hoods and their components as well as procedures for using them safely and effectively.
Hazard Communication Program
The Hazard Communication Program is designed to ensure all employees and students are aware of chemicals in their workplaces and are provided information regarding the potential hazards associated with exposure to these chemicals. The program also covers container labeling, safety data sheets, employee training and emergency procedures.
Lockout/tagout is a safety procedure used to ensure that dangerous machines are properly shut off and not able to
be started up again prior to the completion of maintenance or servicing.
Mercury Spill Clean Up Manual
This manual provides guidance on the types of mercury spills lab personnel may clean up and those that require EHS assistance.
Radiation Safety Manual
This manual describes the policies and procedures of DePaul University for the control of all sources of and exposures to ionizing radiation that are within the jurisdiction of the university.
Respiratory Protection Program
This manual describes when respirators are needed for employees to protect them from harmful substances on the job. It is written to comply with OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.134.
Scaffolds shall be furnished and erected in accordance with the OSHA 1910.28 standard for employees who are engaged in work that cannot be done safely from the ground or from solid construction. The purpose of these requirements is to ensure that all safe work practices are followed when erecting, altering, working on and dismantling scaffolds.
Stairways and Ladders Manual
This manual outlines OSHA's requirements for the safe usage of stairways and ladders by DePaul employees and visitors.
Walking/Working Surfaces Manual
This manual is designed to minimize slip and trip hazards and prevent falls from walking and working surfaces.
Waste Disposal Guide
This manual provides guidance on proper handling, storage and disposal of chemical, bio-hazardous, physical and radioactive waste.
