The Society of Vincent DePaul Professors' Global Justice committee invites you to submit a proposal for the third annual Teach-In on Global Justice Issues. This day-long event provides an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to come together to discuss and reflect on social justice issues facing our society as we begin our new academic year. Our aim is to call attention to current social justice issues, discuss potential solutions, and re-energize one another in our ongoing social justice work.

We invite you to submit an individual or collaborative proposal to present on a social justice topic at the 2022 Teach-In. Multi-person proposals and assembled panels are particularly encouraged. Short film (max. 10 minutes) proposals are also welcomed.

THEME

Topics for presentations should focus on how each of our disciplines relates to current social justice crises, either in the U.S. or in other countries.  One of the goals of the Teach-In is to help frame and discuss key social justice issues that should inform our work over the coming academic year.

ELIGIBILITY

We welcome a variety of possible formats from a range of disciplines. These may include, but are not limited to panel discussions, presentations or workshops on research, community projects, arts, design, and media.

Faculty, students, and staff may submit proposals. External speakers/guests may be invited to present with you, but we recommend that the majority of presenters be from within the DePaul community.

FORMAT

Sessions will be scheduled for 50 minutes and will begin on the hour starting at 10:00am and ending at 3:00pm.

While this will vary based upon the specific proposal, for presentations, we recommend a short 10-15 minute Zoom presentation or an interactive/dialogic program that is designed to engage DePaul students, faculty, and staff.

Films/Videos may be max. 10 minutes in length and will be programmed as part of a session.

Panels may include up to 3 people.

Please note: If you submit a stand-alone presentation, we will group you with other speakers based on the themes of the presentations and form panels.

If you choose to propose a pre-constituted panel presentation or a workshop, please include the names of each presenter, the title of their presentation and a short description of the theme of the panel. Sessions should allow ample time for discussion of the topic(s) presented.

Closing Forum

We will end the day with an open forum from 3:00 - 4:00 pm to discuss what we can do individually, collectively, and institutionally to help promote our shared commitment to social justice.

If you are interested in presenting at the Teach-In, please complete and submit the attached brief Qualtrics Survey by Friday, May 27thTeach In 2022: Qualtrics Survey
