Risk Management

The Office of Compliance and Risk Management has a primary responsibility to negotiate and verify the suitability of DePaul University’s insurance portfolio, manage insurance claims and consult with university departments to implement appropriate third party insurance requirements.  Risk Management also works with the office of Environmental Health and Safety to promote a safe learning and working environment.  

Certificate of Insurance (COI)​

​​​A COI is a document used to verify the university’s insurance coverage to outside parties.  Risk Management provides the certificate as proof of insurance.  For more information regarding the COI process go to Certificate of Insurance​​.

Contract Insurance Requirements

Risk Management partners with the Office of General Counsel (OGC) to review a contract with specific insurance language such as ‘Additional Insured’, ‘Loss Payee’ and/or ‘Mortgagee’.
To confirm insurance coverage, please send new contract documents to for Risk Management review. Information on the Contract Review process can be found on the Office of the General Counsel website.  ​
