Reporting Misconduct

For emergency situations that pose a threat to the immediate safety of members of the university community, please call 911.

DePaul University is committed to fostering a culture of compliance and accountability that is consistent with its mission. To that end, members of the DePaul community, its staff, faculty and students are encouraged to report suspected wrongdoing.

The university has a number of policies and procedures to guide community members in reporting misconduct through a variety of reporting mechanisms. A misconduct reporting hotline and website, hosted by a third-party vendor, are also available as a means of reporting misconduct in situations where a member of the university community fears reprisal, embarrassment, or for other reasons does not feel comfortable utilizing normal reporting channels. Reports of suspected misconduct may be made anonymously via both the toll-free number and the intake website:

Misconduct Reporting Hotline: (877) 236-8390
Misconduct Reporting Intake Website:  depaul.ethicspoint.com

The hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year. It is a confidential reporting mechanism that may be used to report the following types of issues:

  • Fraud
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Violations of federal or state laws or regulations
  • Violations of university policies
  • Misuse of university resources or property
  • Serious or recurring abuse of official authority
  • Public safety issues

The following are examples of issues that are not appropriate for reporting through the misconduct reporting hotline:

  • Course/teaching evaluations
  • Employee evaluations
  • Personal opinions of faculty or staff
  • Salary administration
  • Any in-progress crimes against persons (These should be reported immediately to 911 and to the DePaul Public Safety Office.)

Reports of sexual and relationship violence should be made to DePaul's Title IX Coordinator.

Additional information for survivors of sexual or relationship violence can be found on the Sexual and Relationship Violence Prevention website.

Information related to non-sex discrimination/harassment can be found on the Discrimination and Harassment website
