Mr. Scott Steffens

Scott retired from a career in public accounting in July of 2023 after thirty-four years as a partner at both Deloitte and Grant Thornton working in Chicago and Washington, DC. Scott specialized in serving non-profit organizations including complex international service organizations, large trade associations, faith-based organizations, private foundations and cultural institutions. During his time in public accounting, he held multiple people and administrative leadership roles and regularly facilitated local and national training courses and championed recruiting from and fundraising efforts for DePaul University. Scott holds BS degree in Accountancy from DePaul University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has held multiple volunteer leadership roles with DePaul University Athletics, Driehaus College of Business and the School of Accountancy and Management Information Systems including serving as president of Ledger & Quill, one of the country's oldest accounting alumni associations. Professionally he served the Illinois CPA Society in multiple board positions over several years including as chairperson of the board in 2016-17 and on the AICPA's National Commission on Diversity. Scott currently serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations in Chicago including Big Shoulders Fund, Erikson Institute and the Cardinal's Council of the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Scott has one adult daughter and resides in Chicago.
