Mr. Roberto Herencia

Roberto R. Herencia has been the President and CEO of BXM Holdings, Inc., an investment fund specializing in community banks, since November 2010.  He is the Executive Chairman and CEO of Byline Bancorp (NYSE: BY) and Executive Chairman of its subsidiary Byline Bank.  In addition, he serves as Chairman of the Board of FirstBancorp (NYSE:FBP) and its subsidiary bank FirstBank Puerto Rico since October 2011.  He has been a director of Banner Corporation (NASDAQ: BANR) and its subsidiary Banner Bank since March 2016. 

Herencia is a financial services industry executive, consultant and thought leader with 40 years of broad experience in all aspects of community banking in the U.S. and emerging markets.  He has held the positions of President and Chief Operating Officer of the community banking subsidiary of a top 30 publicly traded bank holding company, CEO of two publicly traded community banks, head of emerging markets at a major domestic and international bank, and consultant to regulators, community banks and private equity investors.     

He was the President and CEO of Midwest Banc Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MBHI) and Midwest Bank and Trust, a $3.6 billion community bank with 26 branches in the Chicago area, between 2009 and mid 2010, leading one of the most challenging attempts at rescuing a distressed bank and achieving a number of ground breaking "firsts".  Previously, he spent 17 years with Popular Inc. (NASDAQ:BPOP) as its Executive Vice President and as President of Banco Popular North America, building a distinct $12 billion community bank with 138 branches in five of the largest urban markets located across six states.  Prior to joining Popular, Herencia spent ten years with The First National Bank of Chicago (now J.P. Morgan Chase) in a variety of roles, including Deputy Senior Credit Officer and Head of the Emerging Markets Division.  He has extensive experience with complex and distressed turnarounds, has executed over 25 mergers and acquisitions in his career, and lead in June 2017 the first Chicago bank IPO in 25 years when Byline Bancorp became a publicly traded company.

Herencia was nominated in November of 2010 by President Barack Obama to serve as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation ("OPIC") and was renominated in April 2013, serving until 2018.  He is a Trustee of DePaul University and Northwestern Memorial Foundation in Chicago.  He serves on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Chicago.  Herencia is a former member of the Board of Directors of The ServiceMaster Company, a registered public corporation (NYSE: SVM), where he served as Chairman of its Audit and Finance Committee.  In addition, he served as an independent director of SKBHC Holdings and its two subsidiary banks, American West Bank and First National Bank of Starbuck between December 2010 and September 2015.

He has received numerous awards for his civic contributions including the Distinguished Corporate Citizenship Award from The Jewish Council on Urban Affairs, the Evy Award from A Silver Lining Foundation and the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor. 

Herencia, a native of Puerto Rico, graduated Magna Cum Laude and received his B.S.B.A. in Finance from Georgetown University in 1981.  He received his M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 1991.
