  • Republic Bancorp Co.

Aristotle Halikias is an accomplished U.S. business executive who is skilled at building businesses and in acquiring and turning around distressed banks and real estate. His experience spans all segments of the real estate industry in the United States-from acquiring and developing raw land to constructing high-rise condominiums and retail properties to building single family residences.

Mr. Halikias became President and Chief Executive Officer of Intercontinental International Real Estate Investment Company, S.A. (the REIC) in 2013. The REIC charter granted by the government of Greece was relatively unique for the purpose of becoming a publicly owned private enterprise that could help rationalize the Greek real estate market. Since 1994 he has held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Intercontinental Real Estate & Development Corporation, a real estate company which has undertaken real estate projects with a value of several hundred million dollars, including commercial, industrial, specialty projects, including hospitality and entertainment-based developments, as well as multi-family and single family residential communities. He has managed all aspects of real estate development from concept to disposition, including site location and acquisition, building and site planning, municipal and government entitlements, project management and marketing, property management, and brokerage.
Aristotle Halikias joined the Board of Directors of Republic Bancorp Co. in 1996 as its Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. He also became non-executive Chairman of Republic Bank of Chicago. As Chairman, he oversees general policies that govern the operations of the bank, oversees community and commercial lending, and real estate financing, and manages its profitability, stability, and long term strategic goals. Under Mr. Halikias' leadership the bank has grown to more than 10 times its size through organic growth and the purchase of multiple failed institutions.

He is Executive Director of the Halikias Family Foundation; Head of Odyssey Charities, a public charity which he organized to provide social and therapeutic benefits to military veterans and persons with special needs; and is the past President and current Vice Chairman of the National Hellenic Museum and under his leadership the Museum's Board of Directors have built a new, world-class museum; the first national Hellenic Museum in the United States.
