Led by faculty and including staff and students, this committee examined the two calendar systems and identified the most pressing academic implications of the university’s current quarter-based calendar.
The strategic plan, Grounded in Mission, recommended DePaul study moving from a quarter-based to a semester-based academic calendar.
Members of the task force explored the higher education landscape and relevant data; identified factors to be considered in a possible transition; analyzed the impact of a transition on pedagogy, learning outcomes, alignment with other universities, and other pertinent factors; and produced a report
describing academic pros and cons of a possible transition for further consideration.
