Quarter to Semester Exploratory Task Force

Led by faculty and including staff and students, this committee examined the two calendar systems and identified the most pressing academic implications of the university’s current quarter-based calendar.

The strategic plan, Grounded in Mission, recommended DePaul study moving from a quarter-based to a semester-based academic calendar.

Members of the task force explored the higher education landscape and relevant data; identified factors to be considered in a possible transition; analyzed the impact of a transition on pedagogy, learning outcomes, alignment with other universities, and other pertinent factors; and produced a report describing academic pros and cons of a possible transition for further consideration.
