Continuing our mission work together

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

Last May, we launched a national search for DePaul’s next vice president for Mission and Ministry. After conducting an interview process earlier this fall quarter, our university community was unable to reach consensus. As a result, I am extending the hiring timeline in order to allow us to focus our attention on current institutional needs.

To ensure we remain focused on sustaining our long-term commitment to our Catholic, Vincentian mission, I have asked Mark Laboe to continue in his role as interim vice president. Mark has served our community well, and I’m very grateful for his ongoing leadership and counsel. The continued collaboration between Mission and Ministry, the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity, and Student Affairs is strengthening belonging and building a culture of care across our university.

The search committee will share additional updates about our process to find the next vice president for Mission and Ministry when available. Thank you to the committee members and everyone in our community who participated in the search so far.

Each day, I’m grateful for the care and commitment you bring to DePaul. Your work gives life to our Catholic, Vincentian mission — opening doors, uplifting lives, and helping our students and one another flourish.

Sincerely,

Robert L. Manuel
President
